Following on from our receipt of the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Award in March 2012, in the Retail and Town Business of the Year category, we are delighted to announce that A Hume Country Clothing have been shortlisted for two awards in the inaugural Herald Scottish Family Business Awards.
The Herald SFBA awards, run in conjunction with Business Gateway and supported by the Scottish Family Business Association, RBS, Craig Corporate and Grand Central Hotel are designed to showcase the diversity, strength and success of family enterprise in Scotland.
Hugh Lightbody, Chief Officer at Business Gateway and one of on the six high ranking judging panel, said: ‘Economic conditions may still be challenging but judging from the entries to the inaugural Herald Family Business Awards, there are a number of very impressive businesses in Scotland that are not just surviving but growing.’
A Hume E-commerce Director, Karen Hume, said: ‘We are especially proud to be one of those businesses that can report not just growth, but real, tangible and meaningful growth – growth we’ve achieved whilst remaining true to our ethos. And all at A Hume hope that this puts us in a strong position to win the Fastest Growing Family Business category and the Family Business of the Year.’
‘We’ve taken a third generation family business, established in 1929, in a new direction and that is not without risk. Our expanding team have worked incredibly hard to ensure we maintain standards of excellence during this period of growth and I don’t think we need to wait for the results to say thank you both to our dedicated employees and our highly valued customers; old friends and new.’
The results will be announced on 4th December at a glittering champagne reception and dinner – in traditional awards style – at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow.
