Archie Hume - Managing Director
Archie is the Managing Director of A Hume and is the third generation of the Hume family to manage the business. His Grandfather, a Master Tailor, set up A Hume, Gentlemen's Tailor and Outfitter in 1929 and the business has remained in the family ever since.
He is the main retail buyer for A Hume and has a passion for quality, sourcing fabulous brands and ranges to ensure his customers stand out in the crowd! He enjoys chatting to all our customers - either discussing a recent try scored by Kelso or the latest salmon caught on the River Tweed.
Karen Hume - E Commerce and Operations Director
Since launching the A Hume website in October 2007, Archie's wife Karen has overall responsibility for e-commerce. Karen is passionate about customer service and detail and ensures the online side of A Hume operates efficiently.
She oversees all areas of ecommerce and is ultimately responsible for the operations within the business.
James Abbott - Marketing and Business Development Manager
James joined A Hume In October 2010. Having gained a BA Degree in Retail Business in 2005, he initially worked as a Business Development Manager in the Financial Services Industry.
James openly admits he is a a tech geek and is always reading eBooks and blogs to continually keep up-to-date and develop his knowledge and understanding of online and offline marketing, stimulating ideas and helping drive business projects.
Ellie de Vries - Online Administrator
Ellie joined A Hume in September 2009 and her main responsibilty is to deal with all online orders efficiently and timelously. She is keen on all things horsey and enjoys competing at local events.
Lauren joined the A Hume team in August 2012 as the newest online administrator. She has recently finished her school studies at Kelso High School and claimed the title of school proxime accessit. Lauren has taken the opportunity to gain work experience before embarking on an overseas adventure in 2013 prior to taking up her place at University.
Vanessa joined A Hume in October 2012 to lead and develop our Ladieswear section within 46 The Square. Vanessa has several years experience in customer facing roles and is passionate about customer service. She looks forward to welcoming you to our expanded Ladieswear department.
Chris joined A Hume in August 2007 and works on the shop floor looking after all our customers. Chris has a flair for visual design ensuring the window displays and shop floor always looks interesting and appealing to our customers. He is also heavily involved in our Made to Measure service.
Chris has been with A Hume since March 2009 and works on the shop floor. He worked in the hospitality industry before joining the team and has a great way with our customers.
Jacquie joined A Hume in 1985 and is our longest serving member of staff. She is our tailoress and carries out all clothing alterations on the premises. Jacquie has very exacting standards and there will never be a squint hem if she is carrying out an alteration for you!
Lorraine joined our team in 2002 and is responsible for the day to day running of the office - she pays all our invoices and makes sure the accounting side of the business is up to date at all times.
Rosie has worked for A Hume since 2009. She is a tailoress and helps with all the alterations carried out on the premises.
Amelia works for A Hume every Saturday and during her school holidays. She keeps everyone right and is always willing to help out wherever needed. She can also, on occasion, be heard singing and practising show tunes as she regularly finds herself appearing on stage in Kelso High School productions.
Hannah has worked for A Hume since 2008, initially as a Saturday helper, and more recently during her holiday time whilst studying International Business with French at Glasgow University. She keeps everyone right and is always willing to help out wherever needed either in the shop or on projects. She found herself under the limelight recently at our photo shoot!
22, Horsemarket, Kelso
Rob joined A Hume in October 2012 to manage our shop at 22, Horsemarket. Rob has over 5 years retail management experience from an earlier position in Kelso, and has made the Scottish Borders his home. Rob keeps a keen eye on the fishing in the area, and can also navigate his way around a golf course. He and his team look forward to seeing you at A Hume’s new store at 22 Horsemarket.
Lorraine joined A Hume in October 2012 and has over 20
years experience working in the retail sector in Kelso. She is very knowledgeble about the fishing
and shooting in the area, and always has a smiling face for our customers
walking in the door at 22 Horsemarket.
Jacqueline joined A Hume in October 2012 and works on the shop floor in the new store at 22 Horsemarket. Previously she worked in the hospitality Industry for 25 years, and has retail experience from two previous positions in Kelso. She is extremely customer focused and will always try and find the right item for you.
Billy owns the Buccleuch Arms Hotel in St Boswells and enjoys all outdoor country sports when he is not managing his hotel.
James is a GP in Kelso and is an avid cyclist, ski-er and keep fit enthusiast.
Neil farms at Caverton Mill near Kelso and writes a column in the Farmers Weekly. He enjoys country sports, ski-ing and curling.
Sandy is a GP in Kelso and is a keen cyclist, ski-er and runner.
Mary is a local Physiotherapist and is a keen horsewoman - she also manages to run almost seven days a week.
Lucy, twin sister of Chloe, is working in London for a highly respected Milliner. She also makes her own creations.
Chloe, twin sister of Lucy, is at Edinburgh University studying Zoology.
Stewart is a farmer just outside Kelso. He is our newest male model and had to endure freezing cold weather for his first photo shoot in Spring 2010 - he managed not to complain!
Vici is studying Medicine at Aberdeen University. She is our newest female model and had to endure freezing cold weather for her first photo shoot in Spring 2010 - she did not complain either!
Laura has modelled for A Hume since March 2011. She has her own Beautician business in Kelso.
Hannah is in her final year at Kelso High School and her first Photo Shoot was in September 2011 - she is our newest model.
Murphy the Black Lab
Murphy is the Cordiner family's dog and loves having his photo taken. He is the star of the show!
