On 23rd March 2012, the A Hume team attended a lunch hosted by Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards sponsor Scottish Borders Living, to announce the winners of SBBE Awards 2011-12.
The room buzzed with excitement as representatives from 23 of the Borders most successful businesses waited to hear the winners announced.
Nerves were especially jangly at the A Hume table as we were up against fierce competition in the Retail & Town Business of the Year category, an award sponsored by the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce. Our success was by no means guaranteed and the surprise, and delight on all our faces when we did win was entirely genuine.
On receipt of the award, presented by Rob Dickson, Director of Environment & Infrastructure from Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce, A Hume E-commerce Manager, Karen Hume said:
“It is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and dedication our staff put into the business. The award reaffirms to the management that the plans and strategy in place for 2012 will allow the business to strengthen and grow further.”
We are especially proud to take the Award back to A Hume in Kelso, to all our staff who work so hard to support the continued development and innovation of our business. It is an accolade shared by all.
The 5 finalists, Cocoa Black, Henderson’s, Osso Restaurant and Pharlanne Delicatessen & Bistro are representative of the Border’s thriving entrepreneurial spirit and business innovation, and we’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the runners up and wish them every success in the year ahead.
