Happy 50th Archie!

Happy 50th Archie!

Saturday 4th August was a big day for Archie Hume, hard as it is to believe, Archie celebrated his 50th birthday in rare style at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel with 100 of his closest chums.

A red carpet was rolled out for guests who had travelled from as far as Hong Kong, Ireland and all over Scotland. Everyone sparkled with Oscar’s magic as they walked the line to receive their canapés, champagne and Pimms. There was even a keg of Scottish Borders Brewery Ale for chaps who prefer not to dabble in anything too fancy.

A huge thank you is due to Billy and Rachael Hamilton at the Buccleuch for the part they played in ensuring the evening was a roaring success, no detail was over-looked and no effort spared.

Billy, who A Hume customers may recognise as our rather dapper model, helped Archie select the menu and personally ensured that guests were encouraged from the bar where they seemed more intent on cheering Jessica Ennis to victory than on taking their seats for dinner.

After dinner, Archie, dressed in his finest Bladen tweed jacket, busted a move to a playlist he crafted himself; Wham, The Clash and the Black Eyed Peas filled the floor. Proof, if proof were needed that there’s life in the old dog yet.

Thank you to all chums, old and new who came to join in the celebrations and to those who ignored the ‘no pressies’ rule and contributed to the Flowering Cherry Tree gift that will be planted in Karen and Archie’s garden.
