Hannah Fairgrieve, MTFMS – Model Turned Fashion Management Student – gives us her perspective on Pure London, the UK’s premier fashion event.
Hannah Fairgrieve has been an A Hume house model for the past 5 years. She’s been our spirit of country life, looking gorgeous and smiling out through rain, wind, snow, and all too infrequent sun for nine of our ladieswear shoots.
When she’s not modelling for A Hume, Hannah is a 3rd year student studying Fashion Management at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
Hannah Both Sides of the Camera
The course trains students for a career in one of the many roles in the business of fashion, jobs like marketing, merchandising, buying, fashion media production and event management. Art direction is another possible career path, and one of the creative disciplines in which Hannah is very strong. Above is an image from a photoshoot that Hannah modelled, styled and directed as part of her coursework.
As you would expect from a vocational course, the degree has close links with industry and aims to expose students to as much hands on, real life experience as possible. All 3rd year students are tasked with securing an industry placement for 3-12mths and currently Hannah is five months into her 12 month placement here at A Hume .
In at the Deep End
Knowing that Hannah is bright, creative and keen to maximise the opportunity we figured she’d have no interest in an anyone-want-a-cup-of-tea? type placement, so we threw her right in at the deep end and we’ve been flinging challenges at her like an out of control ball feeder ever since.
We don’t think there’s any doubt that her experience has been very real but we’ve tried to make it fun….she took to the elf suit very well.
Once we were sure she’d survived Christmas and the January sales – just when we thought she might have given up hope that there was any glamour in retail – we told her we were packing her off with Vanessa and Archie to Pure, London – the UK’s biggest, shiniest, glossiest fashion event.
That was a smile we wish we’d captured on camera…..
Pure London Diary
There was never any doubt that Hannah was going to have a ball….but well, we’ll let her pictures and highlights video tell the tale. Safe to say we’re 100% sure it went down very well and it’s a pretty safe bet Hannah is on en route to a long and happy career in fashion.
