The good news for romantics this year is that Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday and consequently there are hoards of tempting hotel packages aimed at the soft at heart.
We’ve picked the best of the bunch…..our present to you.
Ham Yard Hotel, London
For a truly hip and cosmopolitan Valentine’s Day sweep your beloved to the Ham Yard Hotel in decadent Soho. This is City living at its best.
The hotel wraps around a cool tree filled courtyard that breathes light and life into the hotel. The interior featuring bar, restaurant, library and drawing room was designed by modern British marvel Kit Kemp, who excels at a mix of English Eccentric meets cool contemporary.
Valentine’s Day guests will find chocolates and a chilled bottle of Cuvée Rosé Laurent-Perrier Champagne in their room. Plus the option to attend a Valentine screening of BAFTA and Oscar nominated romance The Theory of Everything in the hotel’s luxurious private cinema. Breakfast and late check out too.
For further info see Ham Yard Hotel.
Rufflets Country House Hotel, St Andrews
Rufflets Country House Hotel on the fringe of St Andrews has compelling romantic credentials. A fairytale turreted mansion house set in 10 acres of bucolic gardens, with sumptuous interiors and exquisite food.
A one night Valentine’s Break includes: 3 course table d’Hote dinner in the 2 Rosette Terrace Restaurant, breakfast in bed, a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates delivered to your room on arrival and romantic candle turndown service.

The Three Chimneys, Skye
This one really shouldn’t be in the list at all. As famed for being one of the original restaurants with rooms, as for its remote island location and its splendid food The Three Chimneys has no need to offer special Valentine’s Day packages – there aren’t many rooms to sell! But this doesn’t stop it being somewhere you should go.
After all, we all know the way to the heart is through the stomach and the food and setting here are so renowned that we keep expecting to see it pop up as a location on The Trip, with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan spatting over the Michelin starred entrée.
There really isn’t too much more to say. Valentine’s Day includes probably the best food you’ll ever eat in one of the world’s most wild and idyllic settings.

The Bull Hotel, Dorset
The Bull is romantic on a cosy yet luxurious scale. Home to two award winning restaurants and 19 gorgeously glam rooms decorated in classic Homes and Gardens style.
Set in the heart of the bustling market town of Bridport, famous for its vintage quarter, eclectic music and the stunning scenery of the Dorset’s Jurassic coast. Not to mention its close proximity to Lyme Regis, Holy Grail of romantic pilgrims who come to pay homage to the setting of the French Lieutenant’s Woman and Jane Austin’s Persuasion.
The Bull is offering a two night Valentine’s stay including dinner, evening cocktails and Bucks Fizz breakfast.

Seahall Hall, County Durham
Seaham Hall is a pristine country house hotel dedicated to the comfort and relaxation of its guests. So its no surprise that this is a Valentine’s break with all things spa at its heart, one for romantics who like to be pampered within an inch of their lives.
The stay – in a cool, crisp Junior Suite – includes a half a bottle of chilled Taittinger champagne, three-course meal in the Byron’s Bar & Grill and spa access plus an indulgent, relaxing 60-minute deep harmony massage each.
