We would like to doff our best Sandystones Turnberry Tweed cap to Alistair and Sebastien Cope, the fine fellows at Velo Vintage and the style masters behind Sunday’s inaugural Cycle West – Velo Vintage Devon event. Hats off boys – you pulled a blinder.
As the photo evidence on the VV Facebook page attest, it was a spirited wheeze enjoyed by 100 fabulously attired cyclists, beneath blue skies and late summer sun.
The outfits are truly splendid and we are bowled over by the devotion to vintage style. Special congratulations to Miss Ella Howard, who won The A Hume Best Dressed Gal and Mark Fairhurst Esq who won the A Hume Best Dressed Chap.
We are so impressed by Ella’s almost edible rouge outfit, matched so perfectly to the Devon Cream Tea theme, all strawberries and wholesome, land girl chic. Is it just fortuitous that her lovely name ‘Ella,’ is such a swinging forties nom du guerre?
And, the stupendous Mark Fairhurst, a lesson in sartorial elegance for all the gents – what fine breeches, what a marvellous bowler and what attention to detail. Bravo! We’re especially pleased as it gives us another opportunity to showcase Mark’s superb graphic poster for the event.
We look forward to welcoming Mark and Ella into the world of A Hume.
For a detailed appraisal of the day have a peak at the lovely Molly and the Princess blog, the tale of one vintage belle and her prized Pashley and do allow yourself to lose a moment or two to the VV Facebook page, let yourself be swayed and seduced by a few minutes in the company of some British eccentrics….and lastly, pay a visit to these chaps, The Guvnors’ Assembly for all things spokish and blokish.
