House of Cheviot design and manufacture quality country socks, kilt hose, and shooting socks in Hawick in the Scottish Borders. A town known to many as the home of knitwear, textiles has always been a huge part of Hawick’s identity. House of Cheviot blends traditional hand-knitting skills developed over 200 years, and passed down through generations, with the latest knitting technology.
The Company was formed in 2002 by James Wright who decided to combine his entrepreneurial skills and local textiles knowledge. He took inspiration from the iconic Cheviot Hills, which span the Scottish and English borders, when choosing the company name. Today, the House of Cheviot brand is renowned as a leading luxury knitted sock manufacturer, producing approximately 60,000 pairs of socks per year.
During manufacture, each House of Cheviot sock passes through 12 pairs of highly skilled hands, from selecting the yarn to hand sewing, linking and packaging. There is attention to detail at every step of the manufacturing process, ensuring all finished garments are of a consistently high standard.
House of Cheviot takes great pride in being a Made in Scotland brand. All manufacturing is completed at the Hawick headquarters and factory, from initial design concept to completed product.
Every year the brand introduces new designs, with many being inspired by the unspoiled beauty of the local Borders countryside. This is seen in the subtle, earthy tones used in the House of Cheviot traditional sock collections, which complement Scottish tweeds and tartans. They are the perfect accessory for a day’s shooting and work well with the A Hume range of tweeds. With its increasing global reputation and worldwide customer base, House of Cheviot also produces more vibrant designs, inspired by anything from Aztec patterns to catwalk fashions. Whatever style you choose, good quality yarns and expert craftsmanship ensures luxurious hosiery.
